Technology

Ryka knows that women's feet are different from men's based on action, muscle movement, gravity and inherent differences in skeletal structure. And that women need more than just a downsized version of a men's athletic shoe.

Ryka shoes are designed from a well researched, woman-specific last (form) to fit the perfect shape of a woman's foot - narrower in the heel and wider in the forefoot for the perfect fit. Since women's hips tend to be wider than a man's, a "Q angle" is created from her hips to her knees, which often leads to over-pronation. Ryka's woman-specific last is also designed to address this common issue in conjunction with technologies that increase stability and motion control.

Ryka's athletic footwear design philosophy integrates the four key elements required to develop high performance, woman-specific athletic footwear.

Fit, Comfort, Cushioning and Control.
